little boys...

being the mother of a little boy is always fun and adventurous. i didn't grow up with brothers so i am still getting use to the boy behavior that i find strange and sometimes disgusting. what...you may ask...does this have to do with this picture of an overturned bowl on my kitchen floor? well, let me tell you.
it started when i went outside to pick up shoes, cups and other things that somehow find their way outside. i picked up this bowl that had a lid on it and thought nothing about it. i came inside and started to put things in the dishwasher. imagine my surprise when i pulled the lid off this bowl and a huge grasshopper jumped out and landed on my kitchen floor!! my first reaction was PANIC! normally, i would yell for dallin to come get. ( i know it is sad that i have to have my 7 year old kill bugs for me but hey...he loves it and i hate it.)

of course, dallin was not home at the time though so that left me and megan staring at this grasshopper. i quickly threw the bowl on top of him and thought i would just wait for dallin to come home and take him outside.

then i heard a thud...i looked back at the bowl and somehow the grasshopper had got out!!YIKES!!! i think he must have been pretty nervous too because he starts jumping all over the kitchen. and boy could he jump!!

now megan and i are both running around the kitchen not quite sure what to do. finally, the grasshopper jumped by the back door. i opened the door and managed to scoot him out. ugh!!

when dallin got home i told him the story and he laughed hysterically. so, from this i have learned to never open a bowl that little boys have been playing with. and even though sometimes i think the things he does are weird and sometimes disgusting i am thankful for every lesson he has taught me. (but please...no more bugs in the house)

we had such a great time. i as so lucky to have such a great family.

oregon fun: part 4

every time i am in oregon i have to go to the coast. there is nothing as beautiful as the oregon coast. it has rocky cliffs and trees. it is breathtaking. it is not the bikini type beaches...more the sweatshirt and hot chocolate type of beaches but nowadays that suits me just fine. this time we went to newport beach. tyler found a wonderful little cove to protect us from the winds that are also famous on the oregon coast. this was megan's first time at the beach and she loved digging in the sand. the older kids were brave enough to splash around in the waves which i thought were freezing! everyone had so much fun. i hope one day i can spend more than an afternoon there. it would be the perfect place to curl up on a blanket with a good book.

oregon fun: part 3

we spent one day at the oregon aquarium. It is amazing to see so many beautiful creatures that live in the ocean. they have big tunnels that you can walk through where the fish and sharks swim overhead. they also have windows in the floor that you can see through too. the kids loved to lay on these and look at the different fish.

all the cousins
you can reach in and touch these starfish and anemones. the kids loved it!! i thought it was pretty cool too.

oregon fun: part 1

this past week my mom, me, dallin and megan went to visit my sister and her family in albany, oregon. it is so beautiful there and although they had warmer than usual temps we thought it was beautiful weather. i don't get to see these kids enough so i had to snap a few right after we got there. believe me, there are alot more to come but here is just a preview of our fun week and these adorable kids.

hannah (5)

some of you may notice that megan is missing from these pictures. trust me, she was there but she was so busy running around having fun that i could not get a decent shot of her.
